The Wind Coalition Announces New Role for Paul Sadler
Austin – The Wind Coalition (TWC) today announced executive director Paul Sadler has transitioned into a new role as a consultant to TWC, the leading advocate for wind energy development in the South Central United States. Sadler will no longer perform daily oversight of the coalition’s advocacy efforts as he campaigns for the U.S. Senate in Texas.
“We are grateful for Paul Sadler’s tremendous leadership, and legislative expertise, as our industry has grown exponentially in the Midwest, Oklahoma and Texas,” said Zeina El-Azzi, President of The Wind Coalition. “We are delighted Paul will continue to consult on behalf of our industry as we advocate for the development of this clean source of renewable energy.”
Sadler has served as executive director of The Wind Coalition since February 2008, drawing upon his legislative and political expertise as a former state legislator to address complicated public policy challenges in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. The Wind Coalition has an active presence in those five states, as well as New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana.
The Wind Coalition has begun an in-depth search for Mr. Sadler’s replacement. Lindsey Hughes, TWC’s Associate Director, will manage day-to-day operations and serve as the primary contact for the coalition in the interim.
The U.S. has 14 states, each with at least 1,000 megawatts (MW) of installed wind capacity, including three states where The Wind Coalition has an active presence – Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, which is the nation’s leader with more than 10,000 MW of installed capacity. The U.S. wind industry has added more than 35 percent of new generation capacity across the country over the last four years.
